A short poem of the relationship between a mother and her grandson .
For years I have done all that I can

For this beautiful strong willed young man.

Much laughter was shared, tears were some.

Never dreamed all the learning to be done.

Not by him as much as me,

Whose eyes would be opened to clearly see.

Would not believe the growing to come

Between this grandmother and her grandson.

I did not know the effort required

To get the relationship so desired.

Assuming with love it was easy to be

Not realizing he was him and I was me.

As time moved on it was clear to see

Our relationship was not what I wanted it to be.

His growing  was normal, the changes quite subtle

Often left me feeling  more than befuttled.

Many the  night, sleep did not come.

As I  tried to resolve this ongoing problem.

With time and patience,I weathered the storm

A little bit wiser and a little bit worn.

It all worked out who would have known

The relationship blossomed once he was grown.

All that worrry and fret was wasted

Once he grew up, joy could be tasted.
