This is a short poem I wrote for Memorial Day.
Take a rueful gaze as you stand,
For here lie men who died for our land.
Bow your head and pay them respect,
And so cover others' sad neglect.

Stand for them, do not sit or lie.
Salute them; for your life they did die.
Honor them, both living and dead,
Pray for them as o'er their graves you tread.

Go visit a fallen soldier,
And at his grave place a white flower.
This to stand for our steep freedom,
And to pay him an encomium.

Never forget this dear day,
For here someday you may lay.
