"a...nutrient-rich habitat for the redwood’s magnificent, ageless bearing..."
Skyward and majestically climbing,
The trunk of the stately redwood rises
Pristinely toward wispy clouds,
Enlivened by the ultraviolet rays of the glistening sun.
The coarse, earthly dirt at the base
Of this ancient, lively tree
Provides a deep, nutrient-rich habitat
For the redwood’s magnificent, ageless bearing.

And dry, volatile elements
Eventually claim the stout, hardy tree,
And the auspicious redwood becomes uprooted,
Laying fallen and lifeless
Atop the rich, loosened earth.
Once again, the porous, sturdy soil
Serves as a humble, yet deathly abode
For the age-old, indigenous tree…
