Thanks to Officer Staes who encouraged me, I was able to put my best foot forward.
I've wanted to play basketball
Ever since I was a kid.
When I got to Junior High,
I finally did.

After a few weeks of practice,
I saw how difficult things seemed.
People made me feel unwanted,
by accident, they stole my dream.

My family told me to try again.
I didn't have enough courage to.
The next year snuck up on me.
I hadn't pulled myself through.

I went to the next sport
That I had always loved;
To become good at track
is what I prayed to God above.

I'll keep on striving
To reach my goals
No matter what happens,
I'm going to hold on.

I won't forget that talk
About living your dreams.
The better you get,
The harder things seem.

I've been striving and striving,
To make my dreams come true,
Things may not have been possible
without the help from you.
