A prayer to the Lord.
TEACH ME TO WHISPER: award winner

Teach me to whisper, O Lord,
Your name in my own ear,
When the onslaught of Satan,
In my heart, do I fear.

Teach me to whisper, O Lord,
When someone asks my name,
Rather than blow trumpets of
My empty, silly fame.

Teach me to whisper, O Lord,
Words of true forgiveness
To one who has trespassed me,
And, gently, him caress.

Teach me to whisper, O Lord,
Sincere words and not croon
To my love promises of
The sky and stars and moon.

Teach me to whisper, O Lord,
When you send me your call,
A prayer to forgive me
Before I trip and fall.
