A poem written for a friend, during a hard time in her life.
My Troubled Friend

You remind me of the French clown Pierrot,

With porcelain exterior so feelings won’t show,

Only one tear from your eye shall flow

And the rest is locked inside.

To find peace within there is a key,

At this moment in time the key is me,

But you will discover you can be free,

When you unlock, by yourself, what’s inside.

Your direction and purpose has not been found,

Your spirit has been concreted into the ground,

But you will fly, in time, and your talent will astound

Even you, of what’s locked inside.

Have faith in yourself, your time will soon come

To step out of the shadow that your life has become

You’ll breathe fresh air and feel warmth from the sun –

It’s freedom, it’s life on the outside.
