Why not leave a mean squeaking rat as such? Trying to muzzle it may not mean much.
MUZZLING MEAN RATS


The fools rush in where angels fear to tread,
Rather than argue facts, they shout instead.
They often have paranoid tendencies;
Like a bull, everywhere they just see red.

Just as a rabid dog does venom drool,
So does spout profanities a vile fool.
His unending constant nonsense chatter
Can make even a sane man lose his cool.

The best way to deal with a fool is this:
Never ever forget this wise dictat:
“Do not expect a mean rat to behave,
It has to behave simply like a rat.”

Why not leave a mean squeaking rat as such?
Trying to muzzle it may not mean much.
