Brick by brick, they built a wall, that’s built so well it will not fall
Brick by brick

They built a wall

That’s built so well it will not fall

Thick and tall and long it grew

Until it’s creators finally knew

It’s true purpose it would serve

To block out the sadness, regret and nerve

Inside the wall something new was created

Something that made the rest seem out-dated

And for many years the people lived

Inside the peace the wall would give

But all good things must come to an end

Something happened that the wall couldn’t mend

And then the peace began to break

The foundation began to shake

And it all slipped in from outside

Making them all want to scream and hide

It was the sadness and regret they had tried to escape

But instead a storm began to take shape

It was then they realized their mistake

There was a door they forgot to make

A door they now desperately needed

Because it was the only way out

So now they watched as the wall fell

When they had thought they’d built it extremely well

By the break of dawn

The wall was gone

And the people too had disappeared

Ironically, this was the worst they had feared.
