Struggling with life, overcoming it.
Weary , watered, drowing eyes
Raining down purple mascara
Shaking furiously from the tapping
Scabbed lips bitten, bleeding
Brutal words piercing my ears
Again, again, again.
Ages 5 through 18
The worst years of my life
Fighting my world
Realizing that nothing will be the way I want it
Nothing will ever change

Statistics say “Your doomed.”
I say, “Your wrong.”
Screaming words you cannot hear
I beg, I plead, “World give me a chance.”
Knocking down my back, like a torn and tattered jesus
I sluggishly fight this life
Wondering if I can ever make it, past those generalizations

Intesified eyes, clear and fresh
Pearing out from under a broken tree
Seeing the sunlight peak from the hills
Newborn lips, pink and smooth
Calmly walking by herself
She gazes at the sun and says,
“World, I’ll take you on.”
