prompt-Dissapearing in the night
They lay in one another’s arms.
Finding peace in the long grass while we stare up
at the starry moonlit sky.
A peace they could not,
were not allowed to:
Feel during the blue sunlit skies
She kissed the top of my head so tenderly,
a tear slipped down my cheek,
not of sadness, did I weep
but of what I wanted to share with the entire world
yet could not
The love between us
was that wonderful kind of
forever love
that you talk about in whispered tones
and giggles of glee
with your best friends and your big sister.
Yet to the ones we tried dare speak,
they said two girls cannot possibly love one another,
it is unnatural.
It will never last.
We were even told
it must be some kind of mental illness.
Pointing out the stars as they slowly began to fade
we held hands before once again she was disappearing in the night.
