Being old and broke.
On Melvin's 70th B-Day,
A life long dream of driving a Ford,
Decided to get up and go on a spout,
In his freshly widowed neighbors house,
And borrowed quietly her Ford car key out,

On Melvin's 70th,
Melvin started,
Slammed the door,

Put it in the 1st gear,
Thought about his son,
Drove slowly around the first tree,
The one where the son crashed one week before
Wrapped in his Ford around the tree totally high and drunk,
That's what the police protocol said,
As Melvin layed in bed exactly asleep and drunk,

On Melvin's 70th,
Skipped the second into the 3rd gear,
Thought about the 38 years of work,
Two jobs and no luck,
Felt lonely, old and funny,
Found it hard to save money,

Mevlin on his 70th,
Licked his thumb,
Turned the radio up louder,
Yelled " Now I'm driving this Ford!"

Melvin,
Placed that Ford in the 4th gear,
Thought about nothing,
Drove with 100 m.p.h. through the red light,
Direct into the rush hour main stream traffic,
The sun shined like the moon at midnight,
In the past he only thought about "Ford" and laughed while he cried,
Melvin spent his B-Day committing suicide.
