My Fleeting Light

My darkness is eternal
Unwavering and true
Yet my soul yearns for the quiet
The light that comes from you

I lurk within the shadows
The world won’t set me free
Yet this prison seems like heaven
Whenever you’re with me

My future seemed so hopeless
My path had been so bleak
You’re the moon within my darkness
It’s your light which I seek

Yet you elude me like a spirit
Or a nymph of enchanted trees
I am lost without your company
Like a speck in the open seas
