Our eyes didn't meet across a crowded room
A sliver of the night
A dance
A kiss
Just a moment in time
A second
Short enough to miss
Like a dream
Or a fairytale
There was only me and you
Even the music faded beyond us
And left just the feeling of your arms around me
And the feeling of our cheeks touching
It seemed like just a moment and yet also an eternity
Since you came up to me
And asked
Want to dance?
I barely remember saying yes
Or any of the things in between
Want to dance?
And dancing
To music I’d never heard before
I couldn’t tell you what song was playing
Or what the words were
I can only tell you that his arms were strong
And his skin was soft
And his lips felt so good against mine
But then it was over
Time to say goodbye
Do you have an AIM or something? he asked
Yeah, I said
He handed me his phone
And my fingers were shaking so bad
That it took me a while to type in my screen name
I’ll hit you up some time, he said.
Is that the end?
