Early draft poem, firmly tongue in cheek. Hope you like & love to hear your comments.
Back in our still ripening salad days
Stale custom microwaving singletons
Tastes moulded to youthful desire's gaze
We'd slice and break apart tenderest heart
To feed appetites consumed by beauty's glaze.

But one mouth-wateringly fĂȘted day
Fate's chef served to plate us together
Yet that delicious night you did not stay
Deserted me to a heartburning night
That no dessert spooned dreams could melt away.

So when you asked 'neath mock-flock wallpaper
If I liked your dress over madras,
And sang Madonna's (a wineglass later)
'Poppadom Preach' at a giggling waiter
That love just for you my heart would cater.
