The Temporary Dreams of the Self Medicated

** Image ID #1810221 Unavailable **

The swirl of colors masterfully hypnotic,

Simultaneously harmonized and chaotic.

Coiling through my mind its essence tainting,

All to resemble a Salvador Dali painting.

What is there I perceive in abnormal splendor,

As I resist to offer an impaired surrender.

Yet my meek contention brings great castigation,

With malaise and aches and grim tribulation.

For all my travail I can’t stop the pain,

As a broken umbrella won’t prevent the rain.

So I offer up my wary and reluctant cessation,

And concede to the might of the narcotic elation.

Kaleidoscopic splashes of illuminated delight,

Dance from the shadows in prisms of light.

For tonight its ecstasy and rapture I’ll wear,

But the morn shall deliver more misery and despair.
