When we were young my old pal we had much fun running and jumping.

My Old Pal

I miss you old pal more each day.
I grieve since you've gone away.
We were young many days ago.
If I left the house you would go.

Roam through the secluded hills.
You would follow near my heels.
I needed a friend you were there.
An unconditional love we shared.

So you were a young healthy pup.
I was a kid having fun growing up.
Our love was sad when you got sick.
You didn't want to play or do tricks.

When the time came to put you down.
My heart broke for my friend I'd found.
I buried you Old Pal in the side yard.
So I can be near you but it's still hard.

God has a heaven for dogs like you.
When I go home I will see you too.
So rest in peace my doggy for now.
If I see a dog it'll be you my old pal.

So a dog is just an animal to some.
But, old pal will always be some one.
A pup ran and jumped when young.
To an old dog who lived and had fun.
