written for a contest "a bud in bloom"

Oh thee fair flower of June

what are you; but a bud in bloom?

'tis hard to tell what beauty you behold

before thy soft petals unfold.

Precious bud you are but a babe just born

waiting til the early morn

when finally you will spread your wings

kissed by the dew that morning brings.

Ever so slowly you start to expand

spreading your beauty as proudly you stand.

Lovely is as lovely goes

the American beauty..alas a Rose.
