Playful poem to celebrate my black kitten Stella Jane's 1st birthday
Tiny black ball of fur you were
Staying close by my side
Following me around in twirls
never-minding we always got intertwined

You loved me, licked me, and even hissed at me
When I didn't want to play
So you perched on my computer, as if to say
I know you don't really want me to go away

You pattered about crying aloud for your meal
I always knew it was time when I opened the seal
to the new box of kibbles you were so ready to steal
and then off the table you were to await your bowl to be filled

You grew and you grew until you were a kitten no more
Your peach fuzz hair got longer into bundles of fur
Your eyes became more green with each growing day
And they told me so clearly you are mine for always

Oh, Stella Jane darling, a sweet cat you are
I love that I found you when your mama was gone
I love how you sit with me all during the day
And make my life fun in so many ways
