A poem that I wrote in my creative writing class for national poetry month.
Can you ride a panda or swim with a shark?
Could you sing with a bird or see in the dark?
Can you climb like a monkey or hop like a frog?
Could you hunt with a tiger or swim in a bog?
Can you stomp like an elephant or scurry like a mouse?
I know that I can, even living in my house.
I just close my eyes, and see it in my head,
Every night, as I lay down to bed.
I dance with the trees and whisper with the grass.
I box with a kangaroo and swim with the bass.
I race a rabbit, but stay behind with the tortoise.
I can't help but stare, because everything is so gorgeous.
Wouldn't you love to be me, every night?
I just close my eyes and everything seems so right.
You can do it too, just try it tonight.
Close your eyes and hope for real life.
