A poem inspired by my laundry day, with perhaps some deeper allusions
rain kissed my laundry today
but i was afraid and ran
worried descending that
it was soaked through

wanting to stop it smelling
of the good brown earth
and of gentle rain clouds
and the wet mist of spring

we would like the rain
to conform compliantly
and not contort our plans
as it heedlessly falls

on the just and the unjust
it splashes life in large
pendulous drops and
yet foolish i am afraid

a lesser unknowing man as I
does not know to embrace
the rain
and let it fall to earth
