A poem in the eyes of an owl.

Owl

Why do you perch in the tree?

Peering down on the world,

just what is it that you see?

Wise I am to the night's brisk air.

I watch the moon's sharp glow, reveal

the bats that fly in the shadows.

The stars fill the empty space like

sprinkles of glitter as they shine down.

I listen to a dog in the garden kennel, bark

an echo, for the echo of another dog

to bark back.

I see flowers as they sleep.

I watch the streets of movement come

slowly to a stop, as lights dim, a world sleeps.

I perch a while to think and observe, with

forward facing eyes then swoop

in for the kill before dawn arises.

Now sleep I request as the world awakes.
