A second round letter to a second round girlfriend.
my brains swimming in novocaine
at least that's how it feels
and my ship already came
too busy swimming with eels

and so we let is pass
and i went ahead and sank
and when i press the gas
it doesn't reach the tank
and so when i think of you
there's nothing left to say
so this list here to do
has nothing pointing any way

and the nights are cold
with a warm body here
but its getting old
you wanted me near
but still i gave it up
with no drop to fear
filling up my cup
with nothing left to fill

so i keep going on
walking up my hill
you cant say keep strong
if there's no protein near
so i bleed it dry
with all things to fear
and i ask them why
and they cant say
and so i leave them there
in their own way

and it's never fair
but who were we
to stand by and wait
for an evening near
to participate
and i wait still
no rocking waves
and you've paid till
waiting for days

and i'll say i'm sorry
but it means enough
to bring the trolley
full of cuffs
to keep us there
tied up for days
and we're aware
of all the waves
swimming towards
the summer day
keeping awards
for every grave
of everything
we've ever said
to hold against
each others head
and we'll play again
until nothings left
but us both

and with this breath
we've missed the boat
but i'll stay steady
hoping you do
until i'm ready
to say me too
