Let me tell you a story
of something that happened to me
it led me out of darkness
and down the right pathway

One day I asked a girl                                                     
to go to homecoming with me
She was someone who if you looked
into my heart you would see
She had her best friend call
because she didn’t want to hurt me

My mind a current flowing
swept up a particular realization
I was emotionally dry
hard hearted is a better description
I was caught up in many a lie
not to mention a puddle of sin

I knew if I died that day
I wouldn’t go to the place that’s high
I kneeled down and began to pray
pouring out my heart I cried

Help me fix what was broken

This song is my plea for forgiveness
For what I’ve done to you
There have been more than a few
times I haven’t been totally truthful
Sometimes I’ve stretched the truth
Other times I have outright lied

You know mostly who I am

I have needed to this
for quite a long while
