For those who know what it's like to take one step forward only to fall ten steps back.
Why do I always slip and fall?
Life, with its treacherous ground -
Tumbling backwards in an ungraceful sprawl.

Imagine, a king trips in his coronation hall
He asks, as he rubs his head, newly crowned,
"Why do I always slip and fall?"

Or the proud stallion in his extravagant stall
Head held high, he misses the mound,
Tumbling backwards in an ungraceful sprawl.

The executive who fails to enthrall
Is demoted because of outcomes unsound:
Why do I always slip and fall?

The fledgling tot, standing up from a crawl
Tries walking but finds his rear earthbound
Tumbling backwards in an ungraceful sprawl.

Life is an upward haul
With dubious hand and footholds abound,
Why do I always slip and fall?
Tumbling backwards in an ungraceful sprawl.
