written after I lost my mom
This was it, her death, my utter loss,
this heavy hurt, my burden, my cross.
My time of holding on has come and gone,
my heart is at ease and it is done.
Last request granted, her ashes in the water,
out of my hands, the ash floats, I whisper goodbye to her.
Release that bit of me, insane,
wash away in the healing sage smoke, goodbye pain.
Hush my heart there's no reason to cry,
just let all those feelings float to the sky.
Be still now, calm my beating heart,
in reality she and I were never apart.
I've found something I was searching for,
so come on now and voyage through that open door.
Soak myself in the revived strength I found,
understanding I stand alone here earth-bound.
But if you take a closer look...
I have many hands holding me up.
