One version of the future
The brown hills of Earth
forget passion’s season when
silver blossoms bloomed.

Forget crisp snowflakes
that fell like crystal sands from
freezing charcoal clouds.

Forget grey mornings
when raindrops filled reservoirs
with life’s adventure.

Remember only
the dry years of survival
after twenty-twelve.
