An observation by the person behind the glass
Locked away in the glass
I stare out at the world surrounding me
Everything looks so chaotic, yet subtle and cool
Yet I am here in the test tube full of pressure and fear
And it seems that relief is nowhere nearby

Staring out at the people, I see half-smiles
Etched on their faces from people telling them
Don’t worry; it’ll all be fine
The question is, do they really believe them?
Or deep down do they know it’s a lie?

I stare out and ask the voices in my head
How much longer before I’m free?
But I get no reply from them this time
For they only come to me when I wish them away from me
When I wish to be alone, the way it’s meant to be

I hear all the empty promises playing on repeat
Drifting through my memory like ravens in the breeze
As I stare out into the world
Still locked away in the glass
Longing to be free
