This was my first attempt at poetry; I am more into writing short stories. its about love.
Who of you believes in love at first sight?

That from a single glance you'll know outright

Your true love is before you, from that feeling in your chest

From that single look you'll be blessed.

Those of you who don’t, you must be warned,

For proof by disbelief is often born

As I discovered one summer’s day

When love chose my to be its prey.

Fate saw fit to send me a boy,

Who was young, handsome, sweet and coy;

The moment I saw his big brown eyes

My stomach was filled with butterflies

Just a riverside meeting was all it took,

Lost in the beauty of the flowers and the brook,

I gave my heart and soul to that boy,

Who filled each one its measure of joy.

Before tearing them all and dropping into mud

Stealing my joy and freezing my blood

The flowers died and the winds blew in,

The river flooded, washed with sin,

But do not think I was naive,

It was simply because I didn’t believe

That my heart could turn to stone and my days could fall to night

From a look at a stranger, from a love at first sight.
