Counting steps/beats.
One, two, three, four, five, six, sev-en - eight.
One, two, three, four, five, six, se-ven - eight.
It keeps him moving. His head turns from side to side as he counts his steps. He is not counting to a number for any reason other than to make sure that he continues on his away. One cannot be sure whether or not he would actually stop walking should he stop counting but he would tell you that he may not have started walking had he not starting counting. The bowling alley was crowded with people he didn't know and this made him nervous - not always but in this moment. He felt awkward and purposeless. If anyone asked him why he was there he might be able to discuss the logical reason behind his presence calmly or not. He couldn't be sure, so he continued on to the bathroom.
Before exiting he reminded himself of the most efficient path in order to keep from having to think about it consciously while he was attempting to negotiate the sea of people around him. He knew he would have to pay attention for some people while avoiding the extra attention of others.
One, two, three, four, five six, se-ven.
One, two, three, four.
