I picture us... (for Bob)
I picture us
a blanket in the meadow grass
a burgeoning apple tree
dew twinkling, reflecting sunrise

I picture us
a bench in a dark, seedy bar
smoking cigars and drinking Scotch
absent-mindedly fingering a Scrabble tile

I picture us
a strong, majestic castle
feasting and dancing
with a full belly and sore feet, you tuck me in

I picture us
in the noonday heat
crystal waters lapping toes
warm grains of white sand

I picture us
a boulder on a mountaintop
past the setting sun
counting stars and secrets

Though this life has yet to afford us pictured moments
you are there
across the horizons of me
in the rising and setting of suns
in the telling of tales and the singing of songs
you are the rhythm and the rhyme
you are my everlasting spring of life
