A short piece about a Revolutionary era skirmish.
Advancing across the field,
Gripping sword and shield,
Like gallant knights of yore.
Raise the standard high,
And watch the colors fly.
Rally 'round the Stars and Stripes.

The enemy ranks close,
As the brigade marches fearlessly onward,
Onward to victory.
A volley of musket-balls, unleashed with fury,
Peppers the line, knocking some out of place.
A whiff of grapeshot too!
That's what will do,
Said the officer bedecked in blue.

The tell-tale bugle call rises above all,
And the charge is called.
Rifles, bayonets affixed.
Rough, cratered land, betwixt,
The two lines,
Aim is fixed.
