Tribute to my grandmother who just passed away 1 month ago.
The house became quiet,

No scoldings, no babbling,

No laughter,

I can only hear silent mourning

In the house.

As I walk into your room,

I’ve always think about you,

You will always do your make up,

Watch tv and sometimes even practice singing your favourite songs through instrumentals,

You were always a sporting and strong person,

You had always join into many competitions,

And even won quite a lot of prizes.

When I walked through the garden,

I think about you,

You’ve always love gardening,

You water the plants day and night,

When I’m off to work,

You will be telling me

“Girl, please drive carefully. Don’t drive too near the cars, okay.”

You love to come into my room,

“Girl, clean up the place properly, why are you so untidy?”

Now, I can’t hear you grumbling anymore,

And I really miss that.

Looking at the kitchen,

You were always there on Sundays or any special occasions,

You had always love to cook the fried chicken that we all love,

You cooked the best fried chicken in the world,

The taste of the fried chicken is still in my mouth,

Oh, how I miss it.

Looking at the expensive shoe and the wooden foot stand you bought for me to stand,

You will always grumble at me and ask,

“Girl, why you didn’t wear the shoes that I bought for you?”

“Girl, why you didn’t stand on the wooden foot stand that I bought for you?”

You were always concerned to all of us,

But all I do is to rebel against you,

Although I still listen to you sometimes.

In the shop,

You will always be there at the counter,

Watching tv, collecting money ,

Serving the costumers with your bright smile,

We’ll miss seeing your bright smile,

You always love to work,

Help people in many ways,

And not to forget you are popular among your friends.

Missing your laughter and your stubbornness too,

I’ve always like to say you in the funny way to make you laugh,

You had always love to drink “Black coffee” with two added ice,

We warned you not to drink so much,

But you just wouldn’t listen.

Roses……

They are your most favourite flower,

Every birthday or Valentine’s day you will get a bouquet of roses,

You smiled looking at the roses that you receive and even planted in your garden.

Now that you had gone,

Everything in the house is now up to us to maintain it,

But it wouldn’t be the same without you,

As you really know how to plant your garden very well,

Unlike us.

The memories about you and the time we spent together,

Will be always on my mind,

I know that you are in a better place now,

I’m glad that God had given me such a wonderful grandmother,

You are the best grandmother that I ever had,

I’ll miss you very much,

I love you, Popo. (Popo:means grandma in Mandarin)
