Creating a simple memory
The forest is tranquil.
The moon softly glows.
Reflections appear on
A carpet of snow.

In the still of the trees;
On the ice of a pond;
In the shelter of dusk,
As the day light moves on;

My own children's laughter
Brings joy to my ear,
As I take in the scene ---
So simple and clear.

We're refusing to rush---
To miss this affair;
It's a quiet retreat
'Midst the wintery lair.

Not a care in the world ---
In my mind or theirs ---
Just fixed in the moment
Mother Nature has shared.

No doubt we'll remember
This snapshot in time;
Ever close when we need it  ---
Not costing a dime.
