A short tale of having to choose the lesser evil, and the repercussions of it.
The fog was thick and quickly rolling in. We could hardly see our feet as they ran frantically across the uneven ground,

slipping on the dampness of the cold air, attempting to obtain firm footing.  The forest of tall trees and bushes was a maze that

seemed to have no ending once you entered it. A never ending abyss of cold, wet mist constantly getting thicker until you

eventually wonder your way to the ends of the Earth and vanish - never to be seen again.  Such tales, we had heard as children before

we laid our head down to go to sleep, to scare us of the forbidden forest, to keep us "safe".  As the years progressed the villagers

began to believe the stories, because no one ever went past the tree-line, and those who had were never seen or heard from again.

An unspeakable horror that rested at our door step, waiting to once more to be awakened and unleash the wrath that would consume

our world and diminish any hopes of once again being free.  But we had no choice, no other option if.  The horns continuously

sounded reminding us that they were quickly closing distance between us, and the demise of our kind would be sealed...
