A poem that expresses the end of a relationship, one that everyone encounters.
Is it weird that its dissipating now?
I don’t know if there was anything to begin with really
Just a wisp of smoke that’s now extinguished
I feel sadness but not profusely
Like the links are slowly undoing themselves,
And what’s left is but a shadow
Looking I understand why I grasped so tightly
And yet I feel no need to anymore
Though I am grateful that I did
And as the last of the chain withers apart
I know now what I did not then
That which is never lasting
Has met its own end
Quietly our souls drift outward, away,
We will talk again I know,
And yet this is its own goodbye.
