In praise of the protests in Egypt
Calm in the storm

The sun shines down on “Tahrir Square”
The flight of birds, in circles glide,
Watch, anarchy descending there,
Protestor’s march on, seven wide.

Tyrannical ruler’s mortal wounds,
Internal bleeding, fatal signs,
Time’s bloodless hounds
Will fill the void between the lines.

History marks important times,
With times and dates, and state of mind,
And when at last the bells would chime
Fear not the roving eye is blind.

For truth shines down and paves a way,
And cultivates a greater truth,
Lest not there feet would turn to clay
Whose dreams in turn lie buried, forsooth.
