A poem about how what we see may not be the whole story
Do you see them late at night?
Do you hear them sing and fight?
Out into the darkness where they seem to reside
Have you seen these things in the dark countryside?

They sit and wait for you my dear
While the moon is full and the feeling is fear
They wait for the wagon to come rolling along
To take your body while they sing their song:

"Take them, beat them, kill them quickly
As we drink their blood its thick and sticky
Make them bleed and make them die
As we cut them, save their minds!"

They take your body down to their home
The old abandoned graveyard where dark creatures roam
Down into the old mildewed crypts
Into the doorway, down they dip

Light their candles made from skulls
Open their ancient book of spells
Call upon the spirits of the night
As they carve your body with a knife

"Here we call upon the dead as
We lay this corpse upon its bed
The symbols bind you, the time is right
Inanimate, we give you life!"

The deed is done, now they let you go
Into the village where peace is only known
To feast for the first time on the delicious flesh
Of the living's heart, the man's own breast

Chaos now fills in the town
People scream and run around
While fires burn bright against the pitch sky
As the town burns, these innocent people die

"Burn all the people, take all their homes
Destroy the churches and crush all the bones
For this is the day when you meet your demise
Now we can come back, and save your lives"

"Where is your God when you need him most?
When your families suffer, souls slowly toast?
In your burning town you scream and yelp
But we have come and brought you help!"

"Because you do not know what life is full of
There is no God or heaven above,
Only pain that we must all go through
Till this glorious day, we have come to release you"
