Goals and triumphs are concepts. The hard part is letting them go, once achieved.
An End to a Means

I ride this boat
    to the other shore.
Believe I'm safe,
    but there must be more.
I love this boat,
    this seat, this oar.
Vessel, reach--
    the other shore!

On the beach,
    I'm still alone.
Looking back,
    how much I've grown.
Listen to
    the crashing tone--
Waves upon
    that hardened stone.

Still alone,
    I tie my boat.
Glad it helped me
    stay afloat.
Brought me to
    this beach remote--
But now what should I,
    my time devote?

I love this boat,
    this seat, this oar.
But I have reached
    the other shore.
How to treat
    what I adore?
Abandon it,
    and go explore!
