Dear Japan...with all my heart
Dear Japan
Here I sit wondering why
For some unknown reason
I have no tears...no urge to cry
I watch the waves come rolling in, wondering where they have been
What they have passed, what they have seen
Have they come from far away, or have they been rolling around my beach all day
Did they take part in the horror I’ve seen
Or are they just as innocent as they seem
I’ve spent so many days glued to the news
Watching Mother Nature return our dues
My heart it aches from deep inside
But it would seem to me our time we bide
For now the devastation would feel far from here
Except the waves we share are near
It would seem Japan that you are all alone
But if you think about it, it’s all our home
Watch the waves come rolling in and don’t wonder where they’ve been
If my wishes were to come true then I would send my waves right back to you
They are kind and gentle and oh so blue
And please know Japan
My wishes are true
With all my aching heart and hope I send them to you.
And one day soon I will shed the tears
That refuse to come amid the fears
Watch the waves come rolling in and fill your heart with where they have been.
