The eagerly awaited monsoon.
Monsoon

Clouds thicken
move en masse
from south-west
in all directions,
a motley carpet
of black and grey
cross stitched  by
the invisible hand
of white lightning.

The boughs of Heaven
move with the comely
grace of divine dancers
as if summoned to gladden
the hearts of the earthborn,
a reward for being good
to the world at large.

Thunder claps,
the wind blows
its mighty conch
announcing the news
of the descending
god of rain with
his angels of mercy
in tow to planet Earth.

The giant palms
spread their fronds
fanning the wind’s
flamboyance.
The slender gooseberry
sways in joy
welcoming life-saving rain.

Rain drops thrill
flora and fauna.
The whole nature
blooms at the cool
touch of the sweet rain
quenching its summer thirst,
bringing hope, love
and joy to millions.
