One Shining Gem

A Shiny gem amongst the stone
brighter than the sun it shone
up high
on a ridge
Beck-on-ing

She flashed an eye
I looked to the side
She smiled at me
and I went to hide
Beneath her pedestal

Beneath her
Ped-e-stal

I set every brick
laid every stone
walling myself away and
keeping her
from my own

And I paint you a
letter in bloody tear
ripe with the sting of
all my frivolous fear

In the shadow of a
valley under this
wall of doubt
My fingers are bloody
From my trying to
get out 

So help me girl
Atop a sheer cliff
show me a hand
extend yourself and
Give me a lift
