A moment at sea
The deck rolls,
raising and lowering
the thin line of red
stretched across the west.

Gulls dip and rise
just beyond the rails,
their presence a counter
to the rhythm of the craft.

I stare out towards the horizon,
black outlines of clouds
blanketing us, settling
us in for the night.

The sea is calm now,
but change is in her nature.
The sea has her own mind,
and does not rest for long.
