The past can really fly by and the recent past can feel like its decades ago
The secrets kept from you back home watching t.v.,
do you hear what really happens here with the infantry.

Not here for the glory,
just want to share one of many stories.

For how can you remember me and I let you forget,
all my brothers gone and all we shared here in this place of blood, tears, and sweat.

I share with you the feelings I had on this tour,
and hope to make some of my emotions...some of yours.

Just take a breath and close your eyes,
and experience this through an infantryman's eyes.

Climbing so high up these mountains trying to make it through another day and not die,
I'm scared to look down..never been so high and struggle to look up because of the sweat in my eyes.

The bullets can come at any moment from anywhere,
but I'm used to it now and I don't care.

What do i expect now..I dont know,
something..anything to make the time go.

Nothing surprises me..I've learned to live my life a new way,
to view the world differently and this I don't know yet..will forever change me.

I don't know what was worse...being shot at or shouted at when I got back,
It's easy to forget falling towers until an insignificant man dies and suddenly your back on track.

Everyone love's a hero and a winner,
but when he's got a wounded heart and mind would you invite him in for dinner?

We all came from different places,
but alot of us come back with the same faces.

Some went to school and tried to forget,
some are either dead or live now in the gutters with addiction and regret.

The answer isn't a medication or pill,
why create addicts when all it takes is showing up on capital hill.

Hear the voice of the fallen and remember not a call to the war ,
but remember the sons, husbands, fathers, mothers, neighbors or maybe just a friend who went off to war.

The protests, the signs and the people shouting at the funerals for young boys,
why turn your back on those who went to fight when you cried for revenge against those who came to destroy?

Remember the guy or girl to your left or right like we did,
and remember that young man or woman wherever you see them is not just a kid.

They were the sword that struck down your vengeance and fulfilled the promises to our fallen breathren, and gave peace to all who were lost on 9-11
