all about my father.
Denis Warburton is his name,
Born in 1925 - his Father was lame.
His Mum was not very tall,
As far as I can recall.
He has a sister called Aunty Vera,
She's so sweet - there's none dearer.
They came to Leeds when he was five,
From the other side of the Pennine drive.

War broke out in thirty-nine,
My had flew with the Spitfire line.
Many missions he did fly,
He just loved being in the sky.
Once he dropped some bouncing bombs,
And celebrated with Bing Crosby songs.

He met my Mum in her fathers shop,
And took her out for a bop.
They loved a song from "Olkaholma"
Then he never strayed from her.
He married her in fifty one,
Very proud of the bride he won.

We were born in fifty three
My twin sister, Helen and me.
Mum was only expecting one,
So Dad thought the name was wrong.
Then in fifty six Katy came,
So then life was a noisy game.
Then Mum got pregnant in her prime.
Surprise, Surprise - Colette came just in time!

Weve grown and grown and then just when.....
Weve all grown up - Dad starts again!
With grandchildren - quite a few -
Just as Dad -he'll know what to do!
So if you hear him muttering in his beer,
He's getting old and he cant hear,
Spare a thought for all he's done.
He's my Dad - My number one!
