Finally seeing your faults, how they might cost you what you've always wanted, always had.
I watch TV and it amazes me
how all these sitcom couples seem to be
on all those daytime soaps and prime time shows.
How do they seem to instinctively know?

Through all the laugh tracks and the tears they cry
they always seem to get their timing right.
So, when it's time to take my turn at bat,
I hope she knows I wanna be like that.

I wanna be like that,
I wanna know those things
just so that I can please
the girl of all my dreams.
How much will I have to learn
in order to treat her right?
'Cause I don't want to lose her,
see her walk away tonight.

Many times before, chances still ahead
for her. I pray I won't screw up again.
Without a doubt, she’s a wonder to see.
No one could know how much she means to me.

Up until now, I've been miles away.
I only hope she’s there for me today.
Looking through black windows, I can't abide
watching her wither away, standing outside.

I wanna be like that,
I wanna know those things.
So I can revel in
all of the joy it brings.
How much will I have to learn
in order to treat her right,
so that I can be with her
during a long, happy life?

As long as I know there’s a light ahead,
I know I'll have the strength to fight again.
Until the end, we'll beat the demons back,
just so she knows I wanna be like that.
