Philip, the disciple, what do we know of you?
Philip,
a follower
of Jesus Christ,
left his Bethsaida home.

We,
Christ's disciples,
dressed in our best
venture to Sunday worship
.

“Nathaniel,
join us.
Our Savior’s here,
He hails from Nazereth.”

"Friends,
come too.
Hear God's word,
confess your worldly sins."

Devotion,
Philip showed.
Though at times,
faith was sadly absent.

Scripture,
together recite.
Hiding our doubts
of all God's promises.

Questioning
Jesus’s ability
to feed multitudes.
He seeks earthly solutions.

Needing
daily help,
answers elude us
as we struggle alone.

Again,
prior to
our Christ’s arrest,
he requests solid proof.

Stubbornly,
we refuse
to release all
to God's trusting hands.

Disciple,
one of
the chosen twelve,
stands next to Jesus.

God
looks down,
patiently He waits
us to surrender all.

Philip,
a mirror
of future generations,
believe with blind faith.

Human,
like us,
believing yet seeking
more than we need.
