In remembrance of my father for Father's Day.
Remember the Wind and the Rain

As the preacher finished preaching
The wind bestowed it's accolade.

Riflemen reported their salute of twenty-one
Trading volleys with heaven's cannonade.

A lone bugler bugled
Taps, to the sobering slaps of rain.

The coffin eased into the welcoming earth
Bringing closure to a chapter of pain.

Words and faces forgotten.
Most memories only wain.

Nature herself honored my father that day,
As I remember the wind and the rain.
