Do you wonder sometimes how we got here?
When truth becomes another fallacy
And lies are honored veracity
What becomes of humanity?
Where do they turn for an ounce of sanity?

When you can’t believe in anything you hear
And all you know is what you fear
When you can’t believe the things you see
And all you feel is what you need
What becomes of our humanity?
Where do we turn for a measure of sanity?

Blood seeps out on a cold sidewalk
Winter’s new ice.
A man hangs from a tree
Spring’s new leaf.
A child jabs a needle into his arm
Fall’s new color.
A woman crawls, beaten, from a corner
Summer’s only rain.
What has become of our humanity
When hope is a long forgotten commodity?
