When you are faced with accepting what you cannot change.
Tears roll down my cheeks,
As you talked about marrying him.
My mind drifts to the future,
Where do I turn now?
What do you want me to do?

You want to forget what happened.
Forget how I felt with you.
Forget our promises.
Forget how we became one.
Forget about my heart.

You want me to encourage your engagement.
Support your decision.
Shake his hand and say “congratulations”
Give you my blessing.
Hell, even dance at your wedding.

You want me to swallow my pride?
Accept that we will never be?
Continue with our friendship?
Give up on us?
Pretend that I’m not in love with you?

Ok, I will.
