A boy, a dog, and a warm summer night on the farm after chores.
In the Stillness of a Summer's Eve

In the stillness of a summer’s eve,
A cool breeze through the arbor leaves,
The crickets sing, the stars glow bright,
Moths gather ‘round the back porch light.

A dog and boy who've earned their keep
Enjoy this rest, will welcome sleep
Murmured voices from inside,
Father’s laugh, the baby’s cry.

But on the porch, it’s far away,
Far as the chores of another day,
Boy pets dog as the crickets sing,
In the gentle stillness evening brings.
